East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc. recently received special recognition for being a Caterpillar certified supplier for the fifteenth year. In honor of the company’s long-term commitment to quality, Caterpillar has presented East Penn with a special 15-Year Recognition Plaque.
Caterpillar certification is determined by an annual audit. Criteria for the award include quality (based on rejection rate, warranty and continuous improvement), on-time deliveries, availability and communications. Less than 25 percent of Caterpillar’s suppliers are certified.
East Penn has a long history with Caterpillar, first supplying batteries in 1982. In 1987, only five years later, East Penn received its first “Quality” certification. In 1991, East Penn became the first supplier to receive Caterpillar’s Quality Banner, recognizing five consecutive annual quality certifications.
