East Penn recently received the 2013 Manufacturing Achievement Award from the Ben Franklin Technology Partners.
Our company was especially recognized for its most recent work focused on developing a special process for the new UltraBattery®. This advanced lead-acid battery, made by East Penn, is being used in Smart Grid projects with or without renewable energy, such as wind turbines and solar power, as well as in hybrid electric vehicles, thereby enabling these alternative energy solutions.
East Penn has worked with Ben Franklin repeatedly since 1987, partnering with Lehigh University and the Enterprise Systems Partners, the Penn College of Technology’s Plastics Innovation and Resource Center, and Northampton Community College’s Emerging Technology Applications Center. These connections assisted East Penn in implementing innovations that increase efficiencies, reduce costs, and enhance profitability.
“To remain a leader in any industry you need excellent relationships with external partners. The Ben Franklin network is one of those invaluable partners. Whether helping East Penn to optimize an I.R. drying process, improve our overall equipment effectiveness (O.E.E.), or develop specific training programs, the Ben Franklin Partnerships have always been able to organize the necessary teams, and we truly appreciate their support,” said Bob Flicker.
The Ben Franklin Technology Partners is an initiative of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, which links early-stage technology firms and established manufacturers with funding, people, technology, universities and other resources to help them prosper, fueling economic growth for northeastern Pennsylvania.
