East Penn Manufacturing was honored by the Defense Supply Richmond as one of the government’s best suppliers at an Automated Best Value System award ceremony held during the center’s annual business conference in June.
Vice President Dan Fetherolf accepted the gold medal on behalf of East Penn from the commander of the supply center, Navy Rear Adm. Michael J. Lyden.
East Penn supplies lead-acid batteries to the Department of Defense and other government agencies.
“This award recognizes the hard work of all the employees at East Penn in delivering a quality product on time and at a good price to the Government,” said Dan Fetherolf.
Firms that qualify as Automated Best Value System medallists have met stringent quality and delivery requirements established by the Defense Logistics Agency. A computerized system, the Automated Best Value collects a vendor’s past performance data and translates it into a numeric score.
To qualify for a gold medal, East Penn had to have a perfect score of 100 for delivery and performance.
The supply center, located in Richmond, Va., purchases nearly 850,000 items used by the military and other government agencies. These items include a mix of military-unique and commercially available items supporting over 1,300 major weapon systems.
